Our story began a few decades ago. Our Company, Tangerine Group of Hotels is a fully owned subsidiary of Mercantile Investments & Finance PLC – a pioneering finance company in Sri Lanka which was established in 1964 by (Late) George Lawrence Andrew Ondaatjie. Diversifying interests, they ventured into the hospitality industry in 1974 with the incorporation of Nilaveli Beach Hotel – a distinctive property on the pristine East coast. Two other beach properties – Royal Palms Beach Hotel and Tangerine Beach Hotel that sit side by side on the popular South coast were subsequently added in (year/s) broadening the scope. The globally renowned, historical landmark – the iconic Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya was a stellar addition to the portfolio in 1992, further strengthening the Company’s offering. Maximising on the growing opportunities in catering specifically to business travellers, Fairview City Hotel, located in the heart of Colombo 6 was launched in 2017.
